わたいも年のおわりにブログを書くことにする。

先日はシェイカーズ（ーUGさん）、KAMUI、マークとでバルティモアに行った！自力でたどりついた地元のおじさん、フランクに朝から自宅でレコードを見せてもらうことに。とってもやさしい老夫妻で、レコードを見に行ってあんな手厚いもてなしを受けた事はなかった！お茶やクッキーまで出してくれて、お腹空いていないか何度も聞いて来たり、それだけで心がジーンと暖かくなった。全てコンディション良し。

それから、フランクが教えてくれたGURUへ！ここでもアランといういい味出した店主が迎えてくれた。乱雑な店内は本当に45とLPがぐちゃぐちゃに入り交じっていてそれがまた冒険心をかきたてる。箱という箱をすべて見て、かなりいいレコードをゲット！

おいしいアイスクリーム屋さんでお茶。

それからEl Supremoへ！去年の夏来た事を覚えてくれていた。ここはLPがおすすめ。ニューヨーク価格よりもかなりお得なお買い物ができる。私の買った45は全部１ドルだった。

食い意地のはった私たちは、多分早くどこでもいいからごはんを食べたかった男子達を無視して、おいしいレストランをさがしに歩き回る。レコードトリップはおいしい食事無しには終われない。最後のほう、さすがに寒すぎてどうでもよくなったのでなかなか評価の高いレストランに入る。おいしかった！ゆきこさんのお腹が途中で激痛に見舞われるという悲劇もあった。

レコードトリップはいいねやっぱり！次はピッツバーグかな？オハイオ？

簡単ではありますが、去年シェイカーズのギグを見に来てくれた人、一緒にDJしてくれた人、演奏してくれた人、いつかの楽しい夜にさりげなく居てくれた人、本当にありがとうございます！！レコードを通して知り合った人々、音楽への愛情から自然と友達になった人々に本当に恵まれた年でした。皆さんのおかげでもっともっと音楽が好きになりました。来年もどうぞよろしく！

今日の１日

このブログは誰か書いているのだろうか。。。しばらく見ていないなとふと思ったので、開いてみたら、以外と花子が書いていて、びっくり。。。

と言う事で本当にどうでもいい私の１日を書いてみようかと思う。

今日、久しぶりに朝から部屋に掃除機をかけた。そして、洗濯しないとなーと思って洗濯物をまとめたらIKIAの袋が３つ分になったので、断念した。こうなったら最後の最後に肌着がなくなるまで、粘ってやると訳分からない意気込みで私の朝は終わった。

お昼にブックオフに本を売りに行った。そしたら、全部で１６ドル７５セントになった。
と同時に欲しい本があった。１７ドルだった。１７ドルにタックスいれたら、１９ドル近くするぞ。うーん、どうしよーこれかったら、本売ったお金全部飛ぶなーと思いつつ、レジへ。　

そしたら、本日はクリスマスセールです。と言われ、１０％引きに。。。なんと、totalが16.68ドルだった。

７セントもうけた！！！

売った分より多く払わないと思ってた私は７セントのもうけが出て、すごくうれしくなった。ちょっと自分で小さい女と思った。

だから、この前ゲイの男にたばこくれって言われて、断っただけで、you are stingy bitch って言われたのかな。。。（因に、このみみっちい、あばずれがー！って感じの訳ですかね。。。笑）

話が脱線しましたが、とにかく出費だと思ってたのに、収入だったって言う事がまぁ、うれしかったのです。

そのあと、図書館に行って、ちょっと本を読んだり、やる事やったり、などなどしてたら、赤いシャツを着た、黒人の中年がいりなり、インド系の図書館にいたおっさんの肩をバンバンたたき始めて、もうみんなびっくり。しかも、他の人がセキュリティーを呼ぼうとしたのに全く見つからず。。。結局、けがとかは何もなかったようですが、久しぶりに変な怖いやつ見た。

そのあと、２０分後にセキュリティーが登場。あんた今更来たってね。。。

隣で、彼女らしきアジア系の女性がわんわん泣きはじめ、苦情をいい始め、あ”ーーーーっ。集中できん！と思って、近くの日系のスーパーに行った。

お会計の時に２１ドルです。と言われ、カードで払おうと思ったら、カードがない！

そういえば、昨日カードなくして、止めたんだった。。

そんな事をすっかり忘れていた私は。。。

すみません、カード昨日なくして、現金が１０ドルしかないんです。といい、キューピーマヨネーズとおいしそうなパンとソーセージをあきらめた。。

こんな歳になって、レジで金がないからと品物を返品する、悲しさったら、なんともいえない。

とりあえず、そろそろ図書館にもどろうと思ったら、お腹がゴロー。。。えっ、、、まじで。

トイレに駆け込むもお腹はずーと痛む。

仕方がないので、家に帰って来た。うーん、何とも言えない１日だった。でも、まぁ、おもろい１日だった。

Official love letter to Hotel Delmano

Yesterday, we had so much fun spinning at Hotel Delmano.

It was a staff party night, and we didn't expect that much of whole crew coming in for drink and party. 

Ever since we've started to DJ there more than a year ago, thanks to Kamui, Hotel Delmano hold such a special place in our heart. 

Simply because we've never possibly had a bad night there.

There are always a group of nice people works and comes in a good vibes.

Never stop thanking you for having us and make many nights memorable and precious!

It's definitely one of those things that I really appreciate to encounter through the passion for music.

Cheers to Hotel Delmano crew and to more fun nights to come in the future! 

(Next gig is December 18th, Tuesday, and it's a last one in 2012!)

Matthew Africa

不思議な一日だった。


オークランドに住む大好きなDJ、Matthew Africaが今日交通事故で亡くなった。
今日の午後、新しくブログにアップされていたミックスを仕事中に聴きながら、
それがものすごくよかったので、何ヶ月かぶりにメールを送った数時間後に
そのことを知った。今日の午後はなぜか、そのミックスを聴きながら
何も知らずにMatthew Africaのことをずっと考えていた。
次会ったときはこんな話をしよう、とか。

Matthew Africaのことは、
３年前にどうしてもほしい曲を調べているうちに
彼のブログにたどり着いてその存在を知った。
どのミックス＆紹介されている曲もセンスがずば抜けてすばらしく、
普段はそんなこと滅多にしないのにいきなりメールを打った。
ニューヨークでDJにきたときも見に行って、
ミックスがあがるたびに、CDを見かけるたびに、
それがどれだけ良いかどういうところが好きか、度々メールを交換していた。
いつもあの穏やかで丁寧な雰囲気そのままで
「ありがとう！」と返事を返してくれた。
直接関わったことはほんの一瞬だったけど、
心の中ではメンターのように、尊敬していた。
レアなレコードを集めているソウルやファンクのDJは
彼くらいのレベルになると、
新しい気持ちで色々な音楽にオープンでいるのは
すごく難しい事だと思う。
Matthew Africaが特別かっこよかったのは、
オークランドのローカルで下品なラッパーから
60年代のスーパーレアなソウルまで
すべて同じ様に紹介してくれたこと。
そして音楽を単純に、ただ愛していたということだった。
その姿勢からどれだけ学んだか、
今の自分の軸になったか、その影響は計り知れない。

Friday, Saturday, Sundayの一曲を聴くと

涙が止まらなかった。
好きで好きで初めて買った高いレコード。

ヘッドフォンでじっくりと噛み締めるように

ひとつひとつの音をきいた。

彼がこの曲に関わったわけはでないのに、

それでも、彼を通して知った音楽が

私の人生の、生活の、ある瞬間に

ふときらめくような時間を残してくれたこと。

まだ知らない音楽に、胸を躍らせてくれたこと。

嬉しい瞬間や悲しいときに、一緒に居てくれたこと。

今愛する音楽の、きっかけを作ってくれたこと。

そしてそれがたくさんの出会いや思い出をつむいでくれたこと。

ぜんぶありがとう。

最後のメールには
「やっぱりあなたのセンスがたまらなく好きです。

入っている曲が好きなものが多過ぎて、
何度クレジットを見直して曲名を暗記したかわかりません。
Stay HatinのPodcastも聴いてるから、続けてね。
またニューヨークに来てね。」と書いた。
ニューヨークで一番のファンだと思う！
と書きたかったけど、ちょっとやりすぎな気持ちがしてやめた。
でも、本当にそうだと思っていた。

いつも２日後に返事をくれるMatthew Africaのメールは

本人が読むことはなく、いつものように「ありがとう！」と

気さくな文体で戻ってくることも、もうない。

本当にありがとう。どうか、安らかに。

Right Kind Of Music

I like reading anything about some individuals who have the passionate connection with vinyls. Genre doesn't matter. It just make me curious how people develop their personal relationship with records. Here, Jason Willett from True Vine Records (Baltimore) talked to Wax Nostalgic by Complex, which is the short interview of record shop owners around the U.S- 


"As much as I love the aesthetic of the vinyl over CD,In the end, it’s all about the music. And even in that end, it’s not about the music. It’s about discovering yourself, and then you can connect with people. I think the right kind of music can trigger all these things. I’m not too caught up in the object."

メロディーが、忘れかけていた記憶の弦をはじく。

ゆきこさんやゆうじさんのことも、そのとき二人に起きていた出来事と合わせて

思い出せることもいくつかあった。

文章が付随した音楽は、なんかいい。

Too Soon

先週の金曜日に、Beasty BoysのAdamが亡くなった。すっかりガンを克服してよくなったと思い込んでいたから、闘病していたとは知らなかった。




 アダムは、家族とほぼ毎週のように私が４年間働いていた蕎麦屋に来ていた。いつも穏やかで、10分で席が空くと言って１時間以上待たせたこともあった。でも、嫌な顔一つせず「そういうこともあるよ。」と言っていた。お金には困らないだろうに、冬には、いつもほころびたグレーのステューシーのダウンジャケットを着ていた。先に来て旦那さんの名前を残す優しい奥さんも、飾り気が無く自然体で、いつ見てもにこにこしていて好きだった。恥ずかしがりの子供の、いいお父さんとお母さんだった。Beasty Boysの中では、悪ガキの中で一番早く「大人」になった人というイメージだった。当時は英語も今程しゃべれずコミュニケーション力もなかったので、アダムのことについては他には何も知らないけど、レストランでのいつものたった少しのやりとりの中で、やさしい人々だということはすごくわかっていた。あの奥さんなら大丈夫だ、と思う。きっと闘病生活で苦しむ姿もたくさん見ていただろうから、準備はできていたんだろう。どうか彼女と子供が元気でいてほしい。

Adam passed away last friday. It was shock to me as well as to all of us, I thought he overcame cancer. 


He used to come to the Japanese restaurant that I used to work 4 years, almost every week. He always came with his wife and daughter. I was a hostess, and sometime made them wait more than an hour when I said 10 minutes. He was always calm and had quiet smile, just said "Don't worry, it happens." In Winter, he wore Stussy grey puffy jacket every time I saw him. That jacket looked little worn out and tired, but he wore it anyway. His wife is a very lovely person too. She has that natural beauty, always smiling and left her name on the waiting list before Adam arrived. I could not speak English to communicate very well back then, so that's the only thing I know about them. But in such a short interaction of routine, I could tell them they are good persons. And the good father and mother of the shy daughter. 


Rest in Peace, Adam!
